Pharmaceutical sales representatives handle sales for pharmaceutical companies. A pharmaceutical sales rep travels across the country marketing pharmaceutical products to wholesale distributors and healthcare centers. The educational requirements for a career in pharmaceutical sales varies, however a Bachelor of Science Degree in Pharmaceutical Marketing is highly desired. While not required for most careers in pharmaceutical sales, employers are also looking for applicants with a Master’s Degree in marketing or business management. Salaries for pharmaceutical reps vary, but one can expect to make $60,000 a year depending on the success of the company he or she works for. Recent years have provided good job opportunities for a career in pharmaceutical sales, but the Bureau of Labor Statistics now predicts a slight decline in the job growth rate for the next decade.
