As is true for other careers in the medical field, job prospects for oncologists will continue to be good. A physician with an emphasis in oncology diagnoses and treats patients with a different forms of cancer. Oncologists complete both an undergraduate degree and medical school and must pass a licensing exam before they begin a two to four year study of oncology medicine. In addition, an oncologist may choose to continue their education to become a subspecialist of oncology medicine. Individuals working in oncology medicine may work in hospitals and clinics or they may be involved in medical research. Oncologist earn between $200,000 and $325,000 per year based on the geographical location of the position and the experience of the oncologist.
