An endocrinologist is a specially trained doctor that studies and diagnoses conditions related to an individual’s glandular and hormonal imbalances. After a physician completes the educational requirements, he or she has the option of specializing in endocrinology through completion of a fellowship. Typically, a fellowship in endocrinology takes two to three years to complete. After completion, a physician must pass an exam to be licensed as an endocrinologist. Salaries for endocrinologists vary from $160,000 to $215,000 per year depending on skill, experience, and geographical location.
