A dialysis nurse conducts procedures like hemodialysis on patients with kidney failure. A nurse may work in a hospital or outpatient clinic. An RN working as a dialysis nurse must be able to manage many patients at once and excel in a stressful working environment. To become a renal nurse, an individual must complete a Bachelor’s or Associate’s Degree in nursing, or receive a certificate from a nursing school. All graduates must pass the national nursing examination before beginning their careers as registered nurses.
The Bureau of Labor Statistics predicts that job growth and opportunities for nurses across all sectors, including dialysis nurses, will continue to be excellent. A renal nurse will earn $60,000 to $75,000 a year, with head dialysis nurses earning the highest salary of nurses in this field.
