Dermatologist Jobs
Dermatology
Dermatology is the study of the human skin, hair and hands. A dermatologist may take skin scrapings to look for conditions like skin cancer or will sometimes perform cosmetic procedures. A dermatologist is a physician, therefore one must complete medical school and pass an exam to become a licensed physician. Then, a prospective dermatologist completes four years of a residency program with an emphasis in dermatology. After completion of the residency, a prospective dermatologist must pass the certifying exam. The Bureau of Labor Statistics states that job prospects will be good for dermatologists especially because of the increase in the prevalence of skin cancer in the general population. While becoming a dermatologist does require a lot of discipline and hard work, the experience can be a rewarding one that pays between $175,000 and $225,000 depending on the region of the country and the dermatologist’s years of experience.
