In this role, you will have the opportunity to assist in the development, implementation and evaluation of compensation programs, policies and procedures throughout SCL Health that contribute to the organizations ability to attract, retain and engage qualified associates as part of our overall business strategy. You will utilize both internal and external data to evaluate existing compensation systems and programs to remain competitive and meet ever-changing market dynamics.

Your day.

 

As a Compensation Consultant you need to know how to:

 
     
  • Provide support to care sites, leaders, and human resources colleagues for day to day compensation requests and issues across all care sites and locations. Provide guidance to HR business partners, Talent Acquisition colleagues, and leaders on compensation-related matters in order to ensure equitable and consistent pay and practices. Manage assigned work queues/tickets. Research complex issues and escalate questions and concerns as required. Act as project lead for initiatives and serve as a consultant/resource to leaders and stakeholders.

  • Provide consulting to HR and operational leaders on job design, documentation, and market survey data. Collaborate with team to select relevant and meaningful salary surveys to participate in annually.
  •  
  • Collaborate with team to design and implement competitive compensation programs. Participate in annual and ad hoc market pricing and analysis. Collaborate with team to design and implement competitive compensation programs. Research and evaluate industry, trends, and evaluating best practices. Support team in building cost impact projections and communications for leadership teams.
  •  
  • Partner with HRIS and payroll teams to develop and recommend programming and policy solutions. Participate in analysis and troubleshooting to resolve issues.
  •  
  • Support accurate documentation of positions within the system. Act as resource for management teams by providing compensation data, program details and interpretation and educational support to human resources staff.
  •  
  • Model and analyze compensation programs and policies, including base pay, at risk and variable compensation programs, and rewards/recognition programs. Develop special performance-based plans and recognition/reward programs ensuring alignment with company objectives and engagement of associates. Create related tracking systems for projecting financial implications.

  • Conduct benchmarking studies. Review job descriptions and market data to determine placement in pay structure. Prepare reports to summarize job analysis and evaluation, and advice on organization charts and career paths. Create financial models, analyze results, and produce summaries and communication for stakeholders.

  • Conduct market research and analysis to assess competitiveness of programs and practices. Integrate a variety of market trends and policy constructs in an effort to create effective compensation programs. Ensure programs and practices balance the need for system consistency/equity and local market needs. Develop recommendations, impact analyses, and implementation/action plans.

  • Ensure integrity of appropriate position-related data in HRIS and related systems/tools. Consult with HR colleagues and leaders to ensure compliance with federal and state laws.
  •  
  • Develop and document compensation and incentive plan policies, processes and procedures. Collaborate with the team to maintain accurate documentation of policies and programs and improves processes.

Your experience.

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  •  
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in compensation function (developing compensation programs and supporting policies that address all levels of employees- front line to director level leadership).
  •  
 

Preferred:

 
     
  • Bachelors Degree in a related field (such as Finance, Business or Human Resources).
  •  
  • Certified Compensation Professional (CCP) designation.
  •  
  • At least five (5) years of experience in compensation function.
  •  
  • Previous experience in different health care delivery systems/settings (acute care hospitals, outpatient centers, physician offices).
  •  
  • Previous experience in executive and physician compensation.
  •
