The Air Force Civilian Service (AFCS) is looking for a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN/LVN) (GS-0620-05), located at Pediatrics section of the base clinic on Little Rock Air Force Base, Arkansas. The clinic is open from 7:30– 4:30 Monday through Friday.

Salary $35,265 – 45,847

Duties and Responsibilities

-  Observes, assess, and documents the patients’ physical and mental status

-  Obtains history of chief complaint and/or collection of specimens, vital signs, allergies to medications and medical reconciliation.

-  Reviews patients’ medical history documentation in the electronic medical record. 

-  Performs a wide variety of treatments to include; dispensing prescribed medications and vaccines, wart removals, obtain nasal, throat, and wound cultures, removes sutures, changes dressings, irrigates wounds, ear irrigation, applies oxygen, performs spirometry test, performs EKGs, performs nebulizer treatments, and performs visual screening exams.

-  Performs or assists in the performance of a number of specialized medical and minor surgical procedures

-  Administers prescribed medications and vaccines.

-  Performs a variety of miscellaneous support duties in support of the care and treatment provided for patients (receives phone calls and walk-in patients, escorts patients as necessary, and schedules appointments in the automated systems as necessary)

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA’s)

-  Knowledge of basic and commonly used medical equipment, supplies, and procedures sufficient to perform duties such as taking vital signs and taking samples

-  Knowledge sufficient to prepare and administer commonly prescribed medications, and to recognize adverse medical reactions in patients

-  Knowledge sufficient to change sterile dressings and maintain the sterile condition of medical supply items


-  US Citizenship is required

-  Must be a licensed LVN/LPN and fulfill recertification requirements

-  This is a Testing Designated Position. The employee is subject to random drug testing

-  Must possess a current Basic Life Support (BLS) certificate

-  The position may be identified as having “regular contact with children,” requiring a State Criminal History Repository (SCHR) check to be completed on any person selected for the position
