The Air Force Civilian Service (AFCS) is looking for a Family Medicine Physician (GP-0602-15), located at the military treatment facility on Shaw Air Force Base.  In this position, you would provide full scope of primary and preventive health care services to male and female patients of all ages (to include pediatric and geriatric). The clinic is open from 7:00 – 4:30 Monday through Friday and your primary patients would consist of military dependents and retirees.

Select Duties and Responsibilities

-  Serves as the Primary Care Optimization (PCO) team leader providing comprehensive outpatient care for TRICARE Prime enrolled beneficiaries as well as TRICARE for Life and space available beneficiaries ranging from newborn to geriatric age presenting with complex and interdependent acute and chronic conditions

-  Common treatable conditions include, but are not limited to the management of: insulin & non-insulin requiring diabetes mellitus, hypertension, cardiovascular disease, asthma, inflammatory and non-inflammatory arthritic conditions, cancer diagnosis/management/surveillance, physical and/or extremity injuries, as well as acute and chronic psychiatric/ psychological disorders.

-  Provides direct primary outpatient care to include gynecologic, prenatal obstetric, pediatric, and geriatric care. Performs ambulatory surgical procedures including but not limited to: casting/splinting, suturing, excisional skin biopsies, vasectomies, and flexible sigmoidoscopies.


-  US Citizenship is required

-  At a minimum, qualification requirements stipulated by the US Office of Personnel Management for the 0602 occupational series must be met

-  Board Certification by the American Board of Medicine in Family Medicine or equivalent is required

-  Must possess and maintain current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS). Must obtain any required Advanced Life Support training, such as Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) within six months of assignment to this position

-  Must meet credentialing/accreditation requirements of the employing MTF, AAAHC, TJC, MAJCOM HQ, and HQ USAF

-  This position has been designated by the Air Force as a Testing Designated Position (TDP) under the Air Force Civilian Drug Demand Reduction Program. Employee must pass initial and periodic short notice drug testing

-  This position has been identified as having "regular contact with children" IAW Public Law 101-647 Section 231, and Public Law 102-190, Section 1094. A FBI fingerprint and State Criminal History Repository (SCHR) Check will be completed on any person selected for this position
