This position is responsible for the planning, development and implementation of operational policies and procedures for a specific department within nursing services. Collaborate in intra- and inter-departmental planning, problem solving, and decision making within the scope of their responsibility. This position requires the application of advanced, broad-based knowledge of nursing practice and theory as well as advanced knowledge of techniques of supervision, management, and leadership.

Your day.




As the MRI Lead Technologist you need to know how to:



  • Works in collaboration with department manager and physician leader to identify and drive quality and performance improvement initiatives and communicates this to the staff.
  • Monitor and act as a resource technologist in the daily operations and activities of the Medical Imaging department. 
  • Communicates with patients, families, healthcare team members, and physicians both in-person and via telephone.
  • Coordinates the preparation of films/exams and needed documentation for physician partners
  • Establishes staff schedules and training. Ensures staff competency through proper training techniques and conducts performance evaluations
  • Provide technical support and is able to perform all diagnostic procedures optimally resulting in quality examinations necessary for diagnostic purposes
  • Oversees supply and equipment inventory such that optimal supply levels are maintained and equipment repairs and preventative maintenance occur in a timely manner.  Oversee/ follow-up Quality Assurance and Quality Improvement processes.
  • Enhances professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, current literature, in-service meetings, and workshops.
  • Presents and documents staff meetings as required.
  • Assist with Human Resource management functions such as interviewing, selection, orientation, education/training, feedback, performance evaluation, and policy and procedure development.
  • Assigns, directs and reviews the work of subordinate supervisors/other nursing personnel. Prepares formal answers to, and recommends the adjustment of, grievances and disciplinary matters.



Your experience.

  • Current ARRT (R) (MR) registration, required
  • Minimum three years experience as an MRI technologist
  • Knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy and skill in recognition of normal and abnormal variants
  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of the principals and physics of magnetic resonance imaging
  • Knowledge of ACR
  • Current Basic Life Support Certification, required
