Your day


The Communications Manager is a principal leader in helping to build a culture reflective of SCL Healths mission, vision and values and drives the internal reputation of the company. The manager will provide strategic communication support for all human resources initiatives impacting SCL Health system and care site associates and providers. As the primary lead for all HR communications, the manager will leverage shared services team resources to convey messages that inform, align and engage associates and other key stakeholders.


As the Communications Manager with a Human Resources focus you need to know how to:

  • Serve as a strategic advisor to SVP HR, leadership brand and presence.
  • Lead all HR related communications, including planned annual communications supporting benefits enrollment, performance evaluations and talent management, associate engagement surveys and others, as well as support for HR program changes, reorganizations, etc.
  • Support an innovative and contemporary systemwide strategic human resources communications plan that addresses areas including: SCL Health strategy, mission, vision and values; and aligned culture; and drives associate and provider engagement.
  • Seek to prioritize and maximize human resources communications content and leverage such content when appropriate for marketing and communications channels including Paid, Earned, Shared and Owned media.
  • Support an annual systemwide editorial calendar (internal and external), that ensures messages of relevance and impact are shared with internal stakeholders throughout the health system.
  • Package information in a connected and cohesive format that simplifies and brings personal relevancy to complex topics.
  • Support LinkedIn, Glassdoor and other HR social channels with editorial planning and content development, as well as monitoring and responding to comments and feedback (both positive and negative) to foster a positive brand reputation for SCL Health as an employer of choice.
  • Support Human Resources with internal and external web content as needed. In partnership with Vice President Communications and HR Recruiting, manage the CEOs Linked In profile.
  • Support Human Resources with internal/external web content as needed ( and The Landing).
  • In partnership with Vice President Communications, SVP HR and SVP of Mission Integration, build out internal and external employment brand strategies to drive associate and provider engagement and foster a mission-based, unified culture.

Your experience


We hire people, not resumes. But we also expect excellence, which is why we require:

  • Bachelor's degree in communications, journalism, business or related field, or equivalent knowledge, required
  • 5-7 years of effective experience, required
  • Demonstrated competence in written, oral and electronic communication skills, required
  • Strong background with managing Human Resources Communications, preferred
  • Working knowledge of market dynamics, current communication principles, digital, social and traditional formats, required
