The Air Force Civilian Service (AFCS) is looking for a Clinical Nurse Specialist (GS-0610-11) at the David Grant Medical Center at Travis Air Force Base, California.  This federal job offers a rewarding and exiting career with exceptional benefits!

In this position you would provide nursing care to patients in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at David Grant Medical Center. 

Salary $111,351 – 141,420

*Relocation/Recruitment incentive may be discussed during the interview process

 Duties and Responsibilities

-  Provides comprehensive professional nursing care to critically ill patients such as cardiac, surgical, medical, neurological, hematology, oncology, neonatal, and other medical specialties

-  Mixes and administers prescribed medications orally, intramuscularly, subcutaneously, intravenously, topically, etc., and knows which drugs will alter the effects of another drug if administered concurrently prior to the administration of medication

-  Assesses patient and family to include physical and physiological needs through a detailed history

-  Serves as a resource person with whom other critical care nurses and other health care providers consult when particularly difficult problems in care of critically ill patients arise

-   Performs various pulmonary ventilation treatments such as administration of oxygen, nebulizer treatments, and peak flow measures


-  US Citizenship is required

-  This is a drug testing position.  The employee is subject to random drug testing

-  Must be a licensed RN with a BSN preferred

-  Must possess skill to set up, operate, and monitor sophisticated specialized medical equipment such as cardiac monitors, respirators, ventilators, various intravenous infusion pumps, defibrillators, and equipment required for peritoneal dialysis

-  Must possess and maintain a current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), BLS (Basic Life Support), and PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) certifications.

-  The position may be identified as having regular contact with children.  Must be able to pass a State Criminal History Repository (SCHR) check

-  1-2 years of adult ICU experience is highly desired
