Company:

Location:
Billings, MT
Post Date:
February 21, 2021
Job Status:
Full-Time
Description:

You.

You bring your body, mind, heart and spirit to your work as a Pharmacy Resident.

Your pharmacy knowledge is second to none: your patients feel it in the expertise you share. Families feel it in your communication. Colleagues feel it in your support.

You’re generous with your thoughts, your partnerships and especially your knowledge, because your coordination of all things drug related is crucial.

You’re great at what you do, but you want to be part of something even greater. Because you believe that while individuals can be strong, the right team is invincible.

Us.

St. Vincent Healthcare is part of SCL Health, a faith-based, nonprofit healthcare organization that focuses on person-centered care. Our 286-bed level II trauma center has provided care in Montana and the surrounding area since 1898, and our 30-clinic network ensures community needs are met. We offer comprehensive, specialty care, including a “hospital within a hospital” specifically for children, and are proud to extend SCL Health’s mission by treating the poor, the vulnerable, our community and each other.

Benefits are one of the ways we encourage health for you and your family. Our generous package includes medical, dental and vision coverage. But health is more than a well-working body: it encompasses body, mind and social well-being. To that end, we’ve launched a Healthy Living program to address your holistic health. Healthy Living includes financial incentives, digital tools, tobacco cessation, classes, counseling and paid time off. We also offer financial wellness tools and retirement planning.

We.

Together we’ll align mission and careers, values and workplace. We’ll encourage joy and take pride in our integrity.

We’ll laugh at each other’s jokes (even the bad ones). We’ll hello and high five. We’ll celebrate milestones and acknowledge the value of spirituality in healing.

We’re proud of what we know, which includes how much there is to learn. And we will share our knowledge with each other, patients and families.

Your day.

As a Pharmacy Resident you will need to know how to:

  • Interact with physicians, nurses, and other health care professionals to ensure that medications are appropriately prescribed and monitored to avoid drug allergies, drug interactions, drug contraindications, drug duplications, and drug dosages outside established guidelines.  Document all interventions.
  • Collaborate with the patient and other health care professionals involved with the medication use system to prevent medication errors.
  • Document, review and assess suspected adverse drug reactions.
  • Provide accurate written and verbal drug information to health care professionals, patients and family.
  • Follow formulary management policy and procedures.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of operational applications of departmental computer systems including identification and resolution of system issues.  Accurately utilize computer systems in the medication management process.
  • Participate in departmental work groups to contribute to process improvements and strategic planning.
  • Present educational topics to hospital staff and the community.
  • Successfully complete of all St. Vincent PGY1 residency program required outcomes/goals and residency projects.

Your experience.

We hire people, not resumes. But we also expect excellence, which is why we require:

  • Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy, Doctor of Pharmacy, or Master of Science in Pharmacy from an accredited College of Pharmacy.
  • Current Montana Pharmacist Licensure or eligibility for reciprocity.  If you are newly graduated from a Pharmacy program, must obtain Montana Pharmacist licensure within three (3) months of hire and will function as a Registered Pharmacy Intern until licensure obtained.
  • Current BLS certification endorsed by the American Heart Association or ability to obtain at next class offering.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and diplomatically within a multi-functional team.

Your next move.

Now that you know more about being a Pharmacy Resident on our team we hope you’ll join us. At SCL Health you’ll reaffirm every day how much you love this work, and why you were called to it in the first place.
