Charlotte Gastroenterology & Hepatology is seeking an Endoscopy Department Clerical Coordinator for our Huntersville location.
This position reviews all endoscopy patient medical records/questionnaires prior to procedures to determine appropriateness and completeness, completes all post procedure follow up calls, answers patient pre-procedure questions as needed and handles quarterly chart audits for all providers/units.
RN, LPN or CMA experience required. 


  1. Review all endoscopy charts at least one week prior to procedure to confirm:

    • Appropriate location selected for procedure by insurance and provider.

    • Open Access charts are complete. If not, update as needed.

    • Verify patient meets criteria for office endoscopy.

    • Verify any pre procedure clearances are received, complete and in the patient chart. Follow up as necessary.

  2. Contact and coordinate with appropriate personnel if pre procedure chart review reveals a need for change of location, date, etc…

  3. Perform post procedure follow up phone calls for all endoscopy units daily.

  4. Complete quarterly chart audits for all providers in all endoscopy units.

  5. Review scheduled appointments and pre-procedural instructions with patients as needed.

  6. Identifies and resolves work problems to ensure quality patient service.

  7. Participates in staff educational activities as required.

  8. Ensures that office supplies and equipment are maintained appropriately.

  9. Attends required meetings as requested.

  10. Other general duties as assigned by the Endoscopy Nurse Manager or Regional Endoscopy Manager.

EDUCATION:  RN graduate from accredited school of nursing, LPN graduate from accredited school of nursing, CMA graduate from accredited program.

EXPERIENCE:  One year of acute care or endoscopy experience. Prior experience with case management is preferred.

CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES: RNs and LPNs must have valid NC nursing license.  CMAs and must have current certification.  The employee must have current BLS card and ACLS certification.

  • Knowledge of patient account policies and practices of the clinic.

  • Knowledge of organizations’ policies and procedures.

  • Ability to review medical appointments and charts.

  • Ability to interpret medical information.

  • Must demonstrate the ability to maintain confidentiality.
