The Rural Health Clinic Director is the administrative and clinic authority responsible for the day-to-day operations of the clinic. It is responsible for fiscal management, staffing-to-volume, compliance, strategic planning, and operations.


The Director is responsible for standardizing the overall patient experience by enhancing the point of entry for all patients seeking services and ensuring organizational success in the regulatory, compliance and quality standards.

Essential Functions/Competencies:

  1. Maintaining the conditions for certification of an RHC as mandated by 42 CFR §491 and other CMS publications and guidelines.

  2. Maintaining regulatory compliance, including all state, federal and local regulations.

  3. Comply with all organizational policies and standards including but not limited to ethical business practices.

  4. Creating and maintaining written policies and procedures as required by federal regulation and organizational needs.

  5. Responsible for administrative and financial record-keeping and reporting to the hospital which includes preparing annual budgets, monitoring performance to budget and developing action plans to address budget variances.

  6. Develops and maintains training and orientation programs for RHC staff.

  7. Partner with providers to improve operational efficiency and develop processes that meet patient care needs.

  8. Develops and maintains clinical practice standards for nursing personnel in partnership with hospital Chief Nursing Officer.

  9. Supervises all Rural Health Clinics staff including hiring, termination, disciplinary, staffing, and supervision decisions.

  10. Works collaboratively with leadership to assure the organization meets its performance goals and objectives.

  11. Creating a positive culture which enables staff to provide a consistently exceptional patient experience.

  12. Partner with other departments to support a timely and efficient revenue cycle.

Experience/ Education/Licensure:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Nursing, Allied Health, Healthcare Management, or related discipline preferred.

  2. Five years recent clinic management or equivalent experience required.

  3. Demonstrated knowledge of Rural Health Clinic guidelines strongly desired.

  4. Knowledge and understanding of current healthcare policies as required by State, Federal agencies and insurance carriers regarding rural health status.

This position manages all staff in the Rural Health Clinic. It is responsible for the performance management and hiring of employees of the clinic.
