Description:

The Director manages all personnel functions of the department; manages the development of an annual budget that meets the department's needs, monitors budgetary expenses and revenues; identifies variances and adjusts spending accordingly; develops, implements, and updates policies and procedures in a collaborative and interdisciplinary process according to The Joint Commission, hospitals, and the Health System standards; assists the Health System Information Systems department in the section, testing and implementation of systems related to the revenue cycle process; reviews, designs and implements revenue cycle processes and collaborates with division leadership on the development of corporate policies and procedures to ensure processes are effective, efficient, and properly utilized across the revenue cycle continuum; manages system-wide revue cycle project life cycles in accordance with enterprise-level information services strategic planning; implements revenue cycle initiatives which support the successful adoption of computer applications into the organization's operations; collaborates with the Chief Financial Officer to ensure that the activities of the department align with and support the strategic initiatives of the University and the Health System; makes recommendations and develops action plans based on feedback to achieve desired results; participates in strategic activities of the department and division; serves as a facilitator in the achievement of the vision that is established by the Chief Financial Officer and Chief Information Officer; assumes accountability for the standards established by professional, regulatory and governmental agencies; determines, translates and implements relevant standards and promotes departmental compliance; maintains the standards of practice consistent with current research findings; compiles and prepares status reports for management to analyze trends; works with the executive team, hospital administration and Operations Mangers on revenue cycle Performance to meet short term strategic goals and provides analytical analysis and written guidelines, policies and procedures in accordance with implementation of all work processes as a result of thorough analysis; develops and maintains a performance improvement program for the department, utilizing PDSA (Plan, Do, Study, Act) methodology; develops custom reporting of department performance metrics, key performance indications (KPIs) and standards that are used for staff annual performance review and to measure quality and customer satisfaction; routinely provides the Chief Executive Officer, Chief Financial Officer, Chief Information Officer, and the revenue cycle staff with status reports, KPI metrics and presentations; represents the Revenue Cycle Process, Systems & Support in its relations with other health agencies, organizations, government agencies and third parties; translates the department or Health System's strategic plan to staff, ensuring the support of the plan and modifies the plan in response to changing internal and external factors; consistently shares and receives data from providers and staff to ensure quality, patient access and financial goals are achieved; seeks input form staff regarding opportunities for operational improvement; when needed attends meetings in place of or in conjunction with the Chief Financial Officer and Chief Information Officer to keep staff fully informed about operation and financial issues; demonstrates knowledge of the organization's scope and complexity and the position's authority and responsibility; knowledgeable of the major patient populations served by the Health System and the scope and complexity of their needs; abides by and enforces all compliance requirements and policies, and performs these responsibilities in an ethical manner consistent with the organization's values; adheres to all departmental and hospital policies, including confidentiality;


Bachelor's degree in business management or a directly related field from an accredited institution as approved and accepted by the University of South Alabama and five years of related experience in a medical or hospital office setting, two of which were in a supervisory capacity and included the use of revenue cycle application systems.
