The Air Force Civilian Service (AFCS) is looking for Dental Assistant to work at 22nd Air Refueling Wing, 22nd Medical Group, 22nd Aeromedical Dental Squadron, McConnell AFB, KS.  In this position, the primary purpose is to perform a variety of supportive technical and expanded function duties in the delivery of dental treatment to authorized beneficiaries. This includes assisting in general dentistry, oral and maxillofacial surgery, prosthodontics, endodontics, periodontics, orthodontics, and pediatric dentistry. Treatments to patients are considered complex, difficult, lengthy, and non-routine in nature.


This is a federal government position with no active duty commitments.


SALARY RANGE: $33,394 - $43,414




  • U.S citizenship


  •  Must acquire and maintain certification in Basic Life Support.


  • Must comply with all Medical Group and Dental Flight security and safety requirements.


  • This is a drug testing designated position. The incumbent is subject to random testing for drug use.


  • 12- Months of work experience.




  • Performs a variety of administrative duties related to dental activities.


  • Performs chair side dental assisting duties.



  • Performs general dental infection control and safety procedures.


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSA’s) Note: Your resume and qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:



  • Knowledge of dental science such as anatomy, oral physiology and histology, the principles and techniques of dental assisting, and dental instruments and materials.


  • Knowledge of sterilization techniques sufficient to sterilize dental instruments and equipment.


  • Knowledge of dental terminology and administrative requirements for proper record keeping procedures to maintain patient dental health records, and patient scheduling.


  • Skill and dexterity in manipulating a variety of instruments and equipment while performing dental assisting procedures.


  • Skill in operating and adjusting dental radiographic equipment IAW accepted radiation safety standards and processing dental radiographs.
