The Air Force Civilian Service (AFCS) is looking for a full-time Computed Tomography (CT) Technician (GS-0647-08) to work at Joint Base San Antonio - Lackland, Texas. This federal job offers a rewarding and exciting career with benefits.


 


This is a federal government position with no active duty commitments.


 


SALARY RANGE: ($45,810 - $ 59,557)


 


Requirements:



  • U.S. Citizenship

  • Must possess current CPR certification

  • Must be registered through the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (AART) for Computed Tomography certification and to remain in good standing.

  • The employee may be required to understand accreditation requirements as well as regulatory standards.

  • The position may be identified as having “regular contact with children,” requiring a State Criminal History Repository (SCHR) check to be completed on any person selected for the position.


Duties:


In this position the candidate will produce Computed Axial Tomography images in the performance of very difficult, specialized, and complex diagnostic procedures and radiographic examinations.  The organizational location of this position is: 59th Medical Wing, 59th Medical Operations Group, 59th Radiology Squadron, Joint Base San Antonio (JBSA) Lackland, Texas


 


To be considered qualified resumes must reflect knowledge and experience in the following areas:



  • Knowledge of cross sectional anatomy and physiology to identify organs, and disease processes appearing on studies sufficient to judge acceptability of CT films for diagnostic interpretation.

  • Knowledge of diagnostic CT equipment sufficient to monitor for proper operation, modify standard procedures to accommodate new equipment or examinations, and to determine when maintenance or repair is needed.

  • Knowledge of radiographic exposure techniques, contrast media, darkroom chemistry, and development techniques sufficient to provide optimal radiologic material for interpretation.

  • Ability to conduct training and education of new CT technologist trainees to include equipment/software applications and safe operations.

  • Knowledge of first aid, CPR, and radiation protection/safety standards to aid and provide for the safety of patients.
