The Director of Operations provides management and direction of all aspects of the operations of assigned practices; provides an efficient operational environment that meets the needs and expectations of physicians, patients, and staff; works to establish cooperation between physicians and administration by fostering an atmosphere of two-way communication and trust; provides financial reports, including charge and collection results; discusses opportunities for revenue enhancement (charges and collections);communicates USA Health Care Authority policies and procedures and works with practice medical directors and staff to ensure compliance; works with the Administrator to ensure that the practice functions cooperatively as a large multi-specialty group practice, striving for the success of the entire organization; responsible for the operating process of clinics, including patient and paper flow, revenue controls, staff work environment and the development of new practice functions and activities; prepares reports on physician productivity (clinic/outpatient and inpatient activity); works with internal and external billing functions and credentialing/enrollment to ensure proper credentialing according to policies; assists with development and negotiation of proposed agreements relating to the practices; remains knowledgeable of the external environment to identify the competition, consumers and market opportunities; serves as a resource to the Administrator in the evaluation of the clinical physician staff and prepares business plans to make recommendations; facilitates communication between the Compliance and Reimbursement office and physicians/staff in assigned practices regarding billing and coding practices; works with Human Resources to employ approved staff for new and vacated positions; ensures compliance with applicable CMS, Risk Management, OSHA, CLIA, HIPAA and other federal, state, and institutional regulations; and identifies capital equipment requirements and prepares justification for purchase.



Bachelor's degree in business or a health care related field from an accredited institution as approved and accepted by the University of South Alabama and four years of directly related experience in health care administration, three of which were in a managerial capacity. Group practice experience is preferred. A master's degree in business or health care related field is preferred, and may substitute for up to two years of the required experience. Additional directly related experience may substitute on a year for year basis for the required education.
