Maxim Government Services is searching for qualified Licensed Practical Nurses (LPN) for our client, Fort Belvoir Army base located in Fairfax, Virginia. Services are required full time 40 hours per week to service active duty military members and their families.

Minimum Qualifications:


 


1. Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) must have a minimum of one year experience in an inpatient hospital setting or ambulatory surgery center within the past two years.


 


2. LPNs must be a graduate from an accredited school of nursing from at least one state or territory in the United States.


 


3. Must possess a valid, unrestricted license (with no limitations or pending adverse actions) to practice as a LPN in at least one start or territory. License must remain current, valid and unrestricted during employment


 


4. Must have Basic Life Support Training (BLS) CPR sponsored by the American Heart Association.


 


Job Description:


 


1. LPN will conduct frequent patient assessments and provide close observation of patients in accordance with recognized standards of nursing practice and the prescribed medical plan of care. 2. Performs a wide range of complex nursing tasks for patients of all age groups, ranging from infant to geriatric. Utilizes appropriate interview skills to collect data, identify patient problems, and provide input to the patient’s plan of care.


 


3. Provides diagnostic support duties, to include vital signs, collecting specimens, calling for and recording lab results, and assisting the provider in a variety of examinations and procedures.


 


4. Assists with procedures and examinations and provides emotional support to patients during the course of medical procedures.


 


5. Provides a wide range of treatment procedures, to include venipuncture, phlebotomy, catheter insertion, and respiratory therapy.


 


6. Administers medication within the scope of practice.


 


7. Recognizes and monitors therapeutic effects, contraindications, compatibility, and adverse reactions for the medications administered. As needed, takes immediate action to modify care, based on observed patient reaction to the treatments provided.


 


8. Observes patient’s condition and participates in the updating of the plan of care, throughout the shift. Notifies charge nurse/provider of changes in patient condition.


 


9. Applies skill in the functions, controls, and operations of various specialized equipment, to include infusion pumps, monitors (cardiac, apnea, fetal, etc.), and central lines. The LPN will instruct others on the use of specialized equipment.


 


10. Monitors cardiac telemetry, performs EKG runs, and interprets cardiac rhythm strips.


 


11. Performs basic life support (BLS), and other resuscitative procedures, as required.


 


12. Participates in patient teaching and discharge planning. The LPN supports the patient and /or family members in the integration of the patient care plan, to achieve discharge objectives. The LPN also instructs patient and family on the use of prescribed medications, follow-up appointments, and self-care treatments. In addition, the LPN functions as shift/team leader, as assigned.


 


13. Inputs data into the computer and retrieves information such as laboratory and diagnostic procedure results. Assigns staff to daily maintenance and upkeep duties based on patient condition and expertise of staff.


 


14. Performs general duties to include cleaning and arranging supply cabinets; clean up and sorting of supplies, instruments and equipment; and concurrent or terminal cleanup of exam and treatment rooms as indicated.


 


15. Delegate tasks as needed to care team members according to licensure and scope of practice.
