Maxim Government Services is in search of a full time Family Medicine Physician.  The physician will provide services in a facility housing an immigrant population of women and children.  TX licensure is required.  Relocation and travel is reimbursable.  Compensation package is very competitive.  The facilty is located in Dilley, TX (roughly 70 miles from San Antonio, TX).

The facility is governed by The ICE Health Services Corps (IHSC), operating within the organizational structure of the United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) under the supervision of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). The United States Public Health Service (USPHS) Commissioned Corps Officers, General Schedule federal staff and contractors comprise the healthcare professionals working together to provide quality healthcare services. IHSC serves as the medical experts for ICE for detainee health care.

IHSCs mission is to manage and provide medical care to maintain the health of individuals in the custody of ICE through an integrated health care delivery system, based on nationally recognized correctional and detention health care standards. The Agency is committed to providing healthcare services to protect the nation's health, reduce global disease and support the safe apprehension, enforcement and removal of detained individuals involved in immigration proceedings. IHSC is committed to ensuring a system of care that is ethical, responsible, and accountable through rigorous surveillance and monitoring activities that are in place.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


1                    Ability to work in a multi-cultural and multi-language environment and able to utilize interpreter services to complete assigned duties if not fluent in a language the resident understands.


2                    Adheres to the policies, procedures and accreditation standards as prescribed by IHSC.


3                    Provides direct care to residents in a detention environment. 


4                    Works within Scope of Practice and performs functions outlined in accordance with their credentialing and privileging requirements.


5                    Performs record keeping functions in accordance with program policies.


6                    Maintains patient confidentiality and confidentiality of medical records.


7                    Attends general/medical staff meetings.


8                    Completes all training as required/assigned.


9                    Assures compliance with the Privacy Act and informed consent requirements in all activities.


10                Demonstrates proficiency with electronic health record as appropriate to position.


11                Provides specialized medical services routinely on an outpatient basis and provides medical care to inpatients in facilities with a medical health unit. Specific duties involve all aspects of health care delivery. The incumbent will work in concert with both facility staff and consultant specialists in various clinical areas.


12                Performs all duties in accordance with current accepted medical practices and procedures.


13                Conducts physical assessments, initial and follow-up assessments for acute and chronic medical condition.


14                Collects and documents electronically comprehensive medical and social history to include a review of all body systems.


15                Performs physical assessment in correlation with historical findings, records preliminary objective findings.


16                Acts as a consultant for mid-level providers and/or registered nurses, providing oversight and direction. Incumbent will provide input for the performance ratings of nurses and mid-level providers.


17                Examines and orders appropriate diagnostic testing and provides necessary treatment and/or medications as required. Refers selected cases to consultant specialists when necessary. Refers residents requiring hospitalization to a community hospital and to an appropriate admitting physician.


18                For facilities with a Medical Housing Unit, the incumbent will make rounds on residents admitted to his/her care, mid-levels providers, and nursing personnel, as described in applicable local procedures.


19                Administers or directs administration of both curative and preventative inoculations.


20                Prescribes medications (including narcotics and routine psycho tropics), treatments, diets, and nursing care.


21                Renders emergency medical/surgical/mental health services as required.


22                As the licensed provider, the incumbent provides clinical oversight. It is the incumbent's responsibility to consult with other health care providers to provide training and mentoring and to be directly involved with the evaluation and treatment of severely ill and medically complex patient care problems. Is responsible for providing direct patient care.


23                Ensures that proper evaluations and treatments are carried out and documented. Incumbent shall constantly monitor and evaluate the quality of patient care, providing data to the departmental Performance Improvement program, and other agencies or committees as required.


24                Required to provide on-call medical duty coverage as needed after regular work hours and may need to return to the facility to provide medical care.


25                May be required to see patients who are not in the category of his/her expertise, but within his/her scope of practice.


26                Assures proper maintenance of medical records, preparation of reports, etc., as related to the area of responsibility. Makes recommendations on matters of policy, procedures, training, personnel, and equipment as related to specific area of responsibility.


27                Participates actively in Health Services medical in-service programs. Assists with training for mid-level practitioners, nursing staff, support services personnel, and peer professional staff to include but not limed to a comprehensive health assessment.


28                As needed, works with and is assigned to various committees. Flexible and able to adapt to sudden changes in schedules and work requirements. Along with all other correctional institution employees, incumbent is charged with responsibility for maintaining security of the institution.


29                Will comply with local, state, federal laws, rules and regulations and ICE policy and directives.


30                Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
