Maxim Government Services is searching for qualified Ambulatory Care Registered Nurses (RNs) for our client, Fort Belvoir Army base located in Fairfax, Virginia. Services are required full time 40 hours per week to service active duty military members and their families.

Minimum Qualifications:


 


1. Ambulatory Procedure Unit (APU) Registered Nurse (RN) shall have a minimum of one year APU experience in a hospital setting or ambulatory surgery center within the last three years. APU registered nurses must have documented preoperative training with principles of Patient assessment, airway management and pain control.


 


2. APU RNs shall possess an associate, diploma, baccalaureate and/or master’s degree in nursing and must be a graduate from an accredited school of nursing from at least one state or territory in the United States


 


3. Must possess a valid, unrestricted license (with no limitations or pending adverse actions) to practice as a RN in at least one start or territory. License must remain current, valid and unrestricted during employment


 


4. Must have Basic Life Support Training (BLS) CPR sponsored by the American Heart Association, Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), and Pediatric Advance Life Support (PALS) certified.


 


Job Description:


 


1. Plan, provide, oversee, administer, and document professional patient care, in accordance with nursing standards of practice, licensed independent provider (LIP), and established policies and procedures.


 


2. Utilizes the comprehensive nursing process to formulate patient care plans.


 


3. Identify, document, and implement nursing care, appropriate to patient care problems.


 


4. Obtain patient history and complete a full nursing assessment.


 


5. Identify and document the effectiveness of care provided and revises care plan, as needed.


 


6. Utilize critical thinking to select the course of action in implementing LIP orders and interpreting appropriateness to the patient’s present condition.


 


7. Collaborate with LIPs to make changes to nursing care plans.


 


8. Establish criteria and evaluate/assess effectiveness of patient treatment.


 


9. Interpret and ensure compliance with established policies, procedures, and standards of care and practice.


 


10. Responds to life-threatening situations in the absence of LIP direction.


 


11. Sets up, operate, and monitor medical equipment; remains aware of the patient’s condition and takes appropriate action, as required.


 


12. Monitor safety hazards, ensuring immediate action are taken to resolve or correct potential concerns.


 


13. Interpret findings, and reports to the LIP, those findings which indicate a detrimental variation in the progress of the patient.


 


14. Instruct patients and family members regarding disease processes and provides emotional support, as needed.


 


15. Educate and enhance health prevention and promotion to strive for a state of wellness.


 


16. Act as facilitator to mediate complaints and concerns of patients, family members, and staff, taking immediate action to resolve or refer to a higher level.


 


17. Partner with the interdisciplinary team to develop strategies to improve patient care services.


 


18. Collaborate with the unit manager for issue resolution and improvement of work flow processes, utilizing a proactive approach.


 


19. May serve as member of resuscitation team or emergency code team.


 


20. May be required to perform charge nurse duties.


 


21. Monitors cardiac telemetry, performs EKG runs, and interprets cardiac rhythm strips
