Hours and Shift: 8:30am - 5:00pm, Monday- Friday

Set your sights on a role making a real difference in the healthcare system. We’re looking for a self-motivated Patient Access Scheduler to join our team. The Patient Access Scheduler will be working in a high volume call center assisting patients and clinical staff with scheduling needs. They will be fielding 50-100 calls on a daily basis to ensure patients receive the accurate information regarding their upcoming clinical appointment. It is necessary that this scheduler has a high attention to detail but provides exceptional patient service. 
The Patient Access Scheduler will navigate between multiple technology systems to schedule with various departments.  The individual will be the first point of contact with patients over the phone and should ensure their scheduling needs are being met and they are well informed regarding their appointment.This person will be working in a fast paced environment where they will be expected to display strong customer service and communication skills to properly assist patients. In order to be successful in this role, the Patient Access Scheduler will need to be highly organized and dedicated to customer service.


Your day to day role will include:

  • Handles a high volume of incoming calls (may average to 80 calls per day)

  • Multitasks between several different technology systems to complete functions

  • Provides on-going communications with clinical staff regarding real-time patient status

  • Understands medical terminology and clinical procedures to schedule with appropriate departments.

  • Collaborates with medical staff and their associates to optimize efficiency and effectiveness in scheduling

  • Collects and enters all necessary demographic, clinical, billing and insurance information from patients or responsible parties.

  • Effectively communicates to parties their schedule details to ensure they are well prepared and informed on where to go and who they will see

  • Provides information education to patients regarding their clinical appointment by explaining processes and forms.

  • Performs all other duties and projects as assigned

You Have:

  • High School Graduate or equivalent

  • At least one year of call center experience

  • High Attention to detail

  • Working knowledge or experience with medical terminology

  • Strong customer service experience

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to multi-task and navigate between multiple computer systems simultaneously

  • Ability to make and handle a large volume of incoming/outgoing calls

It would be great if you also have:

  • Experience within a hospital or medical environment assisting patients

  • Prior experience working in Cerner.
