Job Summary:
The Operating Charge Nurse is responsible, in cooperation with the OR Director, for the organization and coordination of all activities within the Operating Room Suite. The OR Charge Nurse is responsible for the direction and supervision of all assigned personnel delivering patient care within the surgical suite.

The Operating Room Charge Nurse must be capable of meeting all the position responsibilities of the Operating Room Staff Nurse as well as being competent in the knowledge and skills required to perform his/her charge responsibilities.

Must be capable of interacting and collaborating with all members of the health care team. Must have the ability to work productively and cooperatively with community resources. Good interpersonal skills are needed, due to the frequent contact with individuals from outside the OR department. Many expensive pieces of equipment and instrumentation are controlled by the OR Charge Nurse. It is her responsibility to ensure that proper care is taken with the equipment and instruments by all members of the OR staff. Physician requests for equipment and/or products are often made to the OR Charge Nurse. It is her responsibility to make those needs known, so that they can be addressed. It is part of his/her responsibility to use the time available to the best advantage.

Requirements:

- Graduate from an accredited school of nursing
- Current licensure/registration in the State of Florida
- Two (2) or more years experience as an Operating Room Staff Nurse preferred
- One (1) or more years(s) Charge Nurse experience preferred
- Current Florida Nursing License
- Participation in Continuing Education
- Knowledge of Federal and State guidelines and requirements
- Assessment, communication, motivational and organizational skill
- Current CPR certification
- Current ACLS and PALS certification or obtain within 6 months of hire
