Division Director, Acute Care   1989 - 1993
Responsible for this eight unit division with a 205 FTE nursing staff – 190 beds, $12 million budget. Established workable and effective budgetary controls. Installed and coordinated a capital equipment purchasing system which saved $85,000. Implemented two medical services. Established, trained, and supported a service for ventilator dependent quadriplegics in the Rehabilitation unit. Trained staff in troubleshooting ventilators and working with patients.

Nursing Administrative Supervisor, Medical/Surgical  1985 - 1989
Responsible for two 24-bed units with a 69 FTE staff. Established a six bed telemetry unit and a cardiac patient teaching program. Developed a primary nursing care model and upgraded the staff from mostly aides to mostly RNs. Increased the role of head nurses by giving them greater budgetary and administrative responsibilities. Established preoperative standards.

Nursing Administrative Supervisor, Acute Medicine  1981 - 1985.
Administered two medical units with 62 beds and a 65 FTE staff. Trained new staff as the units moved from mostly aides to a staff of RNs. Worked with head nurses as they were given more managerial responsibility.

Provided orientation and continuing education of RN staff and skills training for nurses assistants.
