The Campus Dean reports to the President and, in collaboration with the Dean of Nursing Programs, is directly responsible for the management, supervision, and continuity of the faculty, staff, and academic programs in nursing on the campus
Serves as chief administrator of the campus. Oversees the implementation of Chamberlain’s philosophy, curriculum, program outcomes and course objectives to students through classroom, clinical teaching and service to the college and the community. Recruits, selects, supervises and evaluates qualified faculty. Provides an orientation for new faculty; determines and assigns appropriate faculty workloads. Requests and monitors courses and addresses concerns related to DeVry University-contracted courses and services needed to support the delivery of the nursing curricula. Participates as a member of academic committees to ensure that appropriate goals and projects are implemented. Facilitates faculty development including enhancing educational competencies. Recommends faculty for appointment, promotion, retention and termination. Provides for regular meetings of faculty to facilitate communication and faculty participation in planning, implementing and evaluating the curricula. Communicates regularly with the President and Dean of Nursing Programs regarding campus activities and active or potential problems. Communicates effectively with faculty, staff and students. Creates and maintains a college culture of mutual respect, and academic and professional growth. Represents the College within the DeVry, Inc. network, to the Board of Nursing, state and local professional groups and/or organizations, professional accrediting organizations and the community at large. Assists in the selection and maintenance of quality clinical sites. Ensures appropriate faculty/student ratio for laboratory experiences to ensure safe delivery of nursing care by students and faculty. Maintains accreditation and regulatory standards, including the timely completion of required reports. Oversees contractual agreements between the campus and all parties, with whom the campus engages in business relationships, including clinical facilities. Serves as resource person, mentor and policy interpreter for students experiencing difficulties not resolved with an instructor or advisor. Contributes to the development and implementation of annual budgets for the campus. Handles related duties as assigned.

| Job Experience: |
Masters degree in nursing required; doctorate preferred. (Academic rank requires doctorate degree or credit toward doctorate degree. (Assistant Professor- 12 credit hours; Associate Professor – 24 credit hours, and Professor- Doctorate degree). Current active professional licensure as a registered nurse within the state of the campus is required. Minimum of 5 years experience required in the practice of nursing as a registered nurse, two of which have been as a faculty member in a professional nursing education program and/or higher education administration. Experience in educational administration preferred. Experience with Web-based educational programs desirable. Five years experience in teaching in higher education is required for academic rank. Excellent interpersonal skills. Professional presence. Evident leadership, management and organizational skills. High level oral and written communication skills.
