Job Description:

Department: HIM SERVICES Schedule: Part Time Shift: Flexible Days Hours: part time hours. - High school diploma or GED GENERAL SUMMARY: Proficientl in coding Inpatient and Outpatient encounters. Under the direction of the Coding Supervisor and Coding Manager, communicates with physicians, physician advisor and documentation coordinators to obtain optimal documentation to meet coding and compliance standards. Assigns the correct ICD-9-CM diagnosis and procedure code, appropriate modifiers and HCPCS codes of Inpatient and/or Outpatient medical records in compliance with Federal Regulations. Abstract clinical and demographic information and code numbers into the computerized patient abstract for insurance billing, statistical and research purposes. Participates in ongoing continued education to assure knowledge and compliance with annual changes in ICD-9-CM and CPT coding guidelines and requirements.
